NJ Fall Getaways bike trailBiking for Serious Riders or the Average Adventurer

Find the biking adventure of a lifetime here around the Woolverton Inn with our inspiration, resources and experiences. NJ Fall Getaways are packed with fun things to do, from Cycle and Sip at Tomasello Winery with Encore Rides to exploring the new Hunterdon 579 Trail.

We also help make your biking adventures possible by offering on-site and off-site rentals, as well as providing space for you to bring your own equipment. Fall is here; the weather is cooling down and the leaves are changing around the Delaware River Towns. You could not ask for a more perfect time of year to try out these new trails and relaxing biking adventures, whether you’re a serious rider or average adventurer.

No matter what kind of traveler you are, the AllTrails app is a great tool to start your adventures. This app will guide you to trails around your area and wherever your adventures may take you. This is a useful tool because instead of following a map and possibly taking a wrong turn, the app will give you updates and guide you through the terrain on its own.

NJ Fall Getaways for Those that Love Biking

Encore Rides provides pre-established guided tours of the surrounding towns. Rides are leisurely paced and are approximately 10-20 miles long, minimal hills and low traffic roads, towpaths and bike trails. For an easy biking experience start with the Pedal & Pub tour that will take you through Doylestown while learning about the history of William Doyle and enjoying the towns hospitality of craft beer tastings. Encore Rides offers bike tours for every rider, ending with beer or wine tasting, another ending with lunch in the 1770’s Lumberville General Store.

The new Hunterdon 579 trail will take you along the breathtaking views of the Delaware River. From New Hope to Bloomsbury you will find fresh local produce, farmers markets and wineries. Don’t forget to travel with a basket to take home your findings! Along this trail you will find the best Hunterdon County has to offer. Bike Hunterdon has provided many trail suggestions here.

D&R Canal Biking is a 70-mile historic towpath that runs from Trenton NJ to New Brunswick. Many of these trails are in the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park. Even more intriguing, this one is open throughout all seasons!

Hunterdon County is a perfect destination for all cyclists, ages and skill levels. For the more serious and avid adventurer, destinations such as the Last Covered Bridge Ride in New Jersey offers three different routes that will take you by New Jersey’s last remaining covered bridge, Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge. Venture through the most beautiful countryside in New Jersey on trails that can vary in length from 14.6 miles to 47.6 miles with all loops passing by Green Sargent’s Covered Bridge. The routes are more rural and hillier with low traffic. Take in the beautiful Autumn scenery around you this fall!

Covered Bridge Driving Tour

If a leisurely drive is more your speed, or you just need a day of rest after cycling, we recommend a country drive to 2 nearby covered bridges just a few minutes away from The Woolverton in Bucks County. Two routes can take you to view these beautiful historic covered bridges. The first half of the tour is about two hours with the second taking about an hour and a half. The routes are planned so you can start at any bridge.

We like to start at Washington Crossing where, you guessed it, General George Washington and the continental army crossed the Delaware river on a cold Christmas night in 1774. Many events are held at Washington Crossing throughout the year such as Harvest days and the Christmas Day Crossing. This park also features the 19th century village of Taylorsville and other outdoor and recreational areas. Perfect for today’s age of social distancing! Download PDF of Last Covered Bridges Map.
