Cycling, Sip and Culinary Escape

We’ve partnered withEncore Rides  http://www.encorerides.com to create a fun cycling excursion this coming May.

Day 1, Cooking Class

2:00-4:00 pm

Arrive at the  Woolverton Inn https://www.woolvertoninn.com

6:00-9:00 pm   Private cooking class at The Rooster and The Carrot Cooking Studio  https://www.theroosterandthecarrot.com.   The class is six miles from the Inn, and our guide will lead guests to the studio.

Participants will be cooking with a professional chef and will share their meal  together in class. The farm-to-table class takes place in a newly renovated barn on an 1854 property in historic Carversville. The chef works with the group to provide instruction and ensure proper technique and food preparation.  The studio does not have a liquor license, so bring your own wine!

Day 2,  Go cycling along the Delaware River

Bikes on the Towpath 

8:30-10am Breakfast at Woolverton Inn

10:00am-2:00pm   Guided 14 mile bike ride from Woolverton Inn through the historic river towns of Stockton, Lambertville, New Hope, Centre Bridge and Lumberville. Lunch stop along the way, and  then return to the Inn after your day of biking and relax with a Woolverton Sheep Cheese Platter.

Use the rest of your day  for individual exploration.

Day 3,  Visit Historic Doylestown

8:00-9:00am Breakfast at Woolverton Inn and check out

9:00-9:30am  Guided Travel to Doylestown (Transport bikes to the starting point.)

9:30-11:30am  Guided 10 mile bike ride through historic Doylestown.

Go cycling along streets and trails traveled by local notables such as Henry Chapman Mercer, Margaret Mead, James Michener and Oscar Hammerstein who wrotethe lyrics to the musical hits “Oklahoma,” “Carousel,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I” and “The Sound of Music” while living here.

See the homes and final resting place of individuals who made local and international history, and learn how Leo Tolstoy, the Great Wall of China, a blind sculptor and a Rabbi are connected to Doylestown.

  • 11:30-12:30 Fonthill Castle

Tour Henry Chapman Mercer’s home and showplace for his collection of tiles. Built between 1908-1912, the concrete structure includes 44 room and 18 fireplaces in a mix of Medieval, Gothic and Byzantine architectural styles.

Use the remainder of day for lunch  and individual exploration of Doylestown
